No, it isn’t Fangirl Friday. Even though the title of this post suggests a few bangers. Technically it should be a book review day for me (Tuesday Starts with Tea) but tonight we have a lot more to go over. As you may have read in my book, Dear Daddy; I was told Dookie was dead. Deep down I knew that was a lie. Mama’s intuition I guess you could call it. I know my baby anywhere.

So, anyway…years have gone by now. In October a video popped up in my Instagram feed. My sweet little boy was wearing batman costume. If you have been reading this blog since the beginning you probably remember the tagline Dating, Disability and Dachshunds with a photo of my Dookie. (Named after Green Day of course) sitting at our dining table with a box of Marco’s Pizza. Which I had taken down for grieving purposes. Which ended up being umm…well a load of Dookie!
Watch the video(s) below:
I just want my little buddy back where he belongs…I love you Dookie. I know you feel the same. I heard you. You sure can be loud when you want to. See you soon Dookie!
Today Billie Joe Armstrong (of Green Day) released a new single “I Think We’re Alone Now” originally released by Tommy James & the Shondells in 1967; later released by Tiffany in 1987.

You can watch the video for the song below:
Billie recorded this in his bedroom a few weeks ago, to entertain us all during quarantine.

I listened to all 3 versions of this song that I mentioned, and this is probably no surprise…but I definitely like the Billie Joe Armstrong take on this song best. If you have been reading my blog for a while now I’m sure you know by now that Green Day is my all-time favorite band. If you or new here (I know I have gained quite a few new readers lately…thank you for that by the way! 🙂 Or if you just happened to miss it, check out this post about when I got to go see Green Day live. It was truly amazing! Below is a collage of photos I took of Billie Joe from that show:

You can also stream “I Think We’re Alone Now” on Apple Music and Spotify.
Today I watched Like Sunday, Like Rain, and Ordinary World. Both movies star Billie Joe.
Like Sunday, Like Rain also stars Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl) and Debra Messing (Grace from Will & Grace.) It’s a cute movie about a girl who takes on the job of being a live-in nanny for a wealthy family’s intellectually talented son. You can watch the trailer here, or buy the movie here.

In Ordinary World Billie stars alongside Selma Blair, Judy Greer and Brian Baumgartner (Kevin of The Office.) A guy who gives up his dream of being a musician to be a father spends his birthday living in the past wondering what might have been, as sort of a mid-life crisis. You can buy the movie here. The trailer is below:

Since Billie is basically the king of eyeliner he also collaborated on an eyeliner with Kat Von D. I love makeup, so when I found this out I had to have it. I bought multiples, because of the fact that my favorite way to wear eyeliner is chunky…I go through a lot of eyeliner, and the Basket Case packaging was limited edition.

You can still buy the eyeliner but it is in different packaging and is marketed as Anti-Precision now. You can get it on Sephora’s website.

Everyone who knows me knows I love coffee, I can keep up with the Gilmore Girls when it comes to how much I drink coffee.
…but I also really love tea. I’m sort of a coffee and tea snob.

When it comes to coffee my favorite is Oakland Coffee Works. They sell organic coffee, in compostable bags…the first bag of it’s kind by the way. Oakland Coffee is owned by none other than my favorite, Green Day. (That has nothing to do with why I like the coffee) it’s just delicious; try it, you’ll see. My favorite is Atomic Garden whole bean. Whole bean makes all the difference guys, I’m serious. I’m spoiled now. You can buy it from their website (linked above) or get it through Amazon.

Yeah, so anyway. This is supposed to be about tea. (Hello again ADD, my old friend.)
A friend told me about Harney and Son’s Fine Teas a few years ago and I have been hooked ever since. I love every tea I have tried from them so far.
Birthday Tea is another favorite. Gonna be having a few cups on my 30th birthday in a few days (February 20th)

I know everyone is into the term Spill the Tea lately, but these are yummy, high quality teas. I don’t recommend spilling them; the only place you’ll want to spill these teas is into your mouth.

It’s been a little bit, I apologize. I was going through a bit of blog maintenance, everything is good now, so it’s time to get back at it. This post is all about Green Day.

For this post I’m going back to my Rockstars and Randomness roots. I’ve been thinking of starting some sort of Music Monday type deal on here; once a week or so write about what I’ve been listening to/or just anything music related. Maybe do it on Fridays instead and call it Fangirl Friday. I will also include any stories of personal interactions I’ve had with whichever artist is featured for that week. This way R&R still lives on in a way. Does that sound good to you guys?

Today Green Day released their new album “Father of all Mother*******” I’m not sure if you know this yet or not, but Green Day is my all-time favorite band. Why else would I name my dog Dookie?
This was my first arena type show to go to without a caregiver, I was so happy to be independent that night; going with caregivers usually meant that I had to leave whenever they were ready to go, seeing as they are the one who could drive. Good news is at the start of 2020 I became fully independent and no longer have anyone working for me. Now I just Uber when I need to go somewhere, have Instacart deliver groceries, and buy most of anything I need from the internet. I was just tired of being almost 30 (just a few more days ya’ll.) and feeling like I had a babysitter. I should have quit a very long time ago.

Anyway, back to Green Day; sorry, I totally have ADD. I was as close to the stage as you could be. Being in a wheelchair actually comes with quite a few amazing perks. I was on Mike Dirnt’s side of the stage. He kept smiling and making silly faces at me the whole show.
When it was time for “Jesus of Suburbia” I stood up and hung on to the rails for the whole song. That song is 9 minutes and 8 seconds long. I was pretty proud of myself. Apparently, so was Mike; at one point in the song he looked over at me and the expression on his face was a happy type of shocked, like “Woah…! Wait a minute, she’s in a chair, but now she standing for us.” I’ll never forget that look.
The electric wheelchair I took to the arena had been breaking down a lot at the time, it was getting old; battery would hardly stay charged.

Before the show. I sort of jokingly said to a friend “Wouldn’t it be cool if my chair broke right in front of Green Day, and then I had to hang out with them?”
Flash foward to after the show. My chair dies. (I always keep the charger in the basket underneath the chair, just incase I need it.)
I charge it in a room filled with Green Day’s family and friends. (A few of the members are from Little Rock, so they were having a little get together.)
Here’s a picture of Mike Dirnt and I while my batteries are charging.
Another prime example of why you should always watch the way you speak. You get what you say. Good or bad.
I also got to talk to Jason White for a little bit. His friends were nice enough to share an Uber home with me; they even paid for my half of the ride. Thanks Lindsey and Burt!

Oh, right this is supposed to be about the new album. Squirrel much?! Haha!
New album is great. It’s a little different from their usual stuff. Which is always good, don’t want to get bored from the same ole thing, ya know? Not gonna lie, it took me a few listens to get into it. Each time I listen to it, it gets even better.

It’s time I formally introduce you guys to my Dachshund. Considering this blog has been up since November, and the tagline mentions Dachunds there hasn’t been much talk (err writing) about my baby boy yet. February 26, 2019 my Dad sent me a text with a picture of a 3 year old Dachund named Duke Winston, Daddy said the dog needed a new home, he was in a bad situation…his owners weren’t caring for him. He was very severely malnourished.

Apparently the previous owners would leave town for weeks at a time and leave this poor little boy locked in a kennel by himself without food or water. I don’t understand how people could do something like that. It makes me so angry!!! I decided to take him. I love dogs. Plus it gets lonely living alone. This way we both win. Now he is my emotional support dog; after all the trauma he went through growing up I have been thinking of getting him his own emotional support dog. (He gets lonely, would probably do him a lot of good to have another dog around to play with.) He has a lot of anxiety, but who wouldn’t after being starved and abused the way he was?

This photo was taken the day my parents picked him up from his previous owners for me. They took care of him for about two weeks before he came to live with me, since we weren’t sure if he was going to make it. He could barely open his mouth and was too weak to eat.
I am not at all a fan of the name Duke Winston, but he already knew his name. So I was trying to figure out what to do.

Then it hit me. Duh! Green Day is my all time favorite band, one of Green Day’s most iconic albums is “Dookie” Perfect!!!
Now he has plenty of nicknames, Dook, Dookie-Doo, Dookie-Roo, Bubba, and for some reason…lately, Butters. Not sure why. A few weeks ago I called him that one morning and then later the same night my cousin came over and was playing with Dookie and she called him Butters too without me even mentioning anything…then she said she had no idea why she called him that. Trippy stuff.

Here we are 10 months later and he is happy and healthy. He is so sweet, really silly, he has so much personality. I love this little baby so much. I’m so glad I am able to help him have a better life than he had in the past.
Someone is finally used to having their photo taken, look at him posing and sitting pretty! I took this last picture yesterday, I have been planning on writing this post for a while now, figured it would be nice to have an updated photo.
