Dear Daddy, Goodbye: My Second Book

It’s been a while since my last blog update, you can probably tell why I have been MIA, just by reading the title of this post. My Daddy passed away. I’ve been trying to collect myself before I wrote much about it, plus we’ve been busy with grieving; the funeral and all of that stuff…mixed with the snow storms and whatnot.

I haven’t written since announcing the release of my first book Flip The Switch, a few days later (February 10th 2021) My Daddy unexpectedly died of a heart attack. I am so glad he had the chance to read my book before he left us to go to Heaven. I know he was really proud of me; he knew I always wanted to write books, and he was alive to see me actually do it.

Daddy’s text to me about my book; and me showing him that the first paperback copy came in.
The post I wrote on Facebook in honor of him.

Today is Friday, so it’s the perfect day to do a Fangirl Friday. Daddy liked Ed Sheeran. Mama Susan and Daddy’s wedding song was “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. That song summed up their marriage…well, perfectly. They were the definition of marriage goals, for real.

This is a photo I took of Mama Susan and Daddy on their wedding day (July 28th, 2018.)

“Perfect” was also played at Daddy’s funeral, since that song told the story of their lives together pretty perfectly.

“Perfect” Official Music Video:

Since Daddy died I have been listening to Ed Sheeran a lot. I downloaded his album Divide, which features “Perfect”

While listening to Divide, I was introduced to Ed’s song “Supermarket Flowers” which is about Ed losing him Mom. Exchange the lyric Mum for Daddy, and this is a perfect representation for how I feel. This one hits me hard, it’s a beautiful song; but you might need a box of tissues before you give it a listen.

“Dad always told me, “Don’t you cry when you’re down”
But mum, there’s a tear every time that I blink.

Oh I’m in pieces, it’s tearing me up, but I know
A heart that’s broke is a heart that’s been loved

So I’ll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you’d be there holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back we’ll say Hallelujah
You’re home

Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
You got to see the person I have become
Spread your wings and I know
That when God took you back he said Hallelujah
You’re home”

Listening to both of these songs makes me cry my eyes out every single time. It’s so hard to lose someone you care about by surprise; but atleast this way I know Daddy didn’t have to suffer.

Daddy was always very supportive of my blog, and writing in general. I’m pretty sure he read every post on this blog, he was always liking them and sharing them on Facebook for me too. A few days before he died he even left me a tip on the blog.

(For some reason PayPal wouldn’t let Daddy change his name on his account after my parents got divorced…that’s why it says Jacqueline instead of Tony.)

I’ve already started working on my next book, it’s about him…and it will be published around this time next year. I’m writing a letter to him, everyday for a year. It’s titled Dear Daddy. That’s all I am going to tell you about it until it’s done…because remember, Privacy is Power.

My new book about Daddy is available for pre-order now. Get it here: https://amzn.to/3uj5FEy

PS: Featured photo at the top of this post is my Daddy and I (around 1992.) Apparently we were both part of the silly glasses club.

Flip The Switch: My New Book is Out Now!

You guys, I wrote a book! Flip The Switch: Change Your Perspective Change Your Life.

I’m so excited! I have wanted to write a book all my life, literally since I was probably 5 years old, and I finally did it.

I remember one day when I was that age, I was staying at my grandparents house and they had these little sheets of square paper…I had my Nanny staple a whole bunch of those sheets together so I could write a book… each page was dedicated to a specific family member. I wrote out their names and the words ‘is good’ on each sheet. I remember writing Nan is good on the first page, second page was Mom is good, third Dad is good…and so on, I think I even wrote about a cat my grandparents had at the time. Deep stuff. Haha! I wrote it all in orange crayon too!

A few years later (around 7) I wrote, stories about snowmen; I wrote a short story ‘The Day I Brought a Frog To School” but I think they all got lost somewhere. 😔 I wish I could find them.

As a teenager I was obsessed with Degrassi: The Next Generation. Not like I’ve seen every episode once obsessed. I’m talking wrote Fan Fiction on The- N (TV Channel they used to air Degrassi and all the other amazing shows on) online message boards, and I would write it in such accurate detail that people honestly asked if I actually wrote the scripts for the show itself! Sadly, when they deleted The- N’s message boards they took my Fan Fiction with them. I wish I would have thought to save them…they really were some of my best work. Oh, well. That’s in the past.
