It’s been a while since my last blog update, you can probably tell why I have been MIA, just by reading the title of this post. My Daddy passed away. I’ve been trying to collect myself before I wrote much about it, plus we’ve been busy with grieving; the funeral and all of that stuff…mixed with the snow storms and whatnot.
I haven’t written since announcing the release of my first book Flip The Switch, a few days later (February 10th 2021) My Daddy unexpectedly died of a heart attack. I am so glad he had the chance to read my book before he left us to go to Heaven. I know he was really proud of me; he knew I always wanted to write books, and he was alive to see me actually do it.

Today is Friday, so it’s the perfect day to do a Fangirl Friday. Daddy liked Ed Sheeran. Mama Susan and Daddy’s wedding song was “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. That song summed up their marriage…well, perfectly. They were the definition of marriage goals, for real.
This is a photo I took of Mama Susan and Daddy on their wedding day (July 28th, 2018.)
“Perfect” was also played at Daddy’s funeral, since that song told the story of their lives together pretty perfectly.
“Perfect” Official Music Video:
Since Daddy died I have been listening to Ed Sheeran a lot. I downloaded his album Divide, which features “Perfect”
While listening to Divide, I was introduced to Ed’s song “Supermarket Flowers” which is about Ed losing him Mom. Exchange the lyric Mum for Daddy, and this is a perfect representation for how I feel. This one hits me hard, it’s a beautiful song; but you might need a box of tissues before you give it a listen.
“Dad always told me, “Don’t you cry when you’re down”
But mum, there’s a tear every time that I blink.
Oh I’m in pieces, it’s tearing me up, but I know
A heart that’s broke is a heart that’s been loved
So I’ll sing Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
When I fell down you’d be there holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
And when God takes you back we’ll say Hallelujah
You’re home
Hallelujah
You were an angel in the shape of my mum
You got to see the person I have become
Spread your wings and I know
That when God took you back he said Hallelujah
You’re home”
Listening to both of these songs makes me cry my eyes out every single time. It’s so hard to lose someone you care about by surprise; but atleast this way I know Daddy didn’t have to suffer.
Daddy was always very supportive of my blog, and writing in general. I’m pretty sure he read every post on this blog, he was always liking them and sharing them on Facebook for me too. A few days before he died he even left me a tip on the blog.

I’ve already started working on my next book, it’s about him…and it will be published around this time next year. I’m writing a letter to him, everyday for a year. It’s titled Dear Daddy. That’s all I am going to tell you about it until it’s done…because remember, Privacy is Power.

PS: Featured photo at the top of this post is my Daddy and I (around 1992.) Apparently we were both part of the silly glasses club.
